Crowd Connected unveil new crowd monitoring and management solution

With heightened requirements for emergency planning, the new solution combines real-time crowd ‘sensing without sensors’ and personalised crowd communication to enhance crowd safety

Crowd Connected, the pioneer of location analytics technology, will use next week’s People Movement and Management Show to unveil their latest crowd safety solution.

The new cloud-based software has been designed to significantly improve crowd communication and monitoring for operators of large and diverse crowded places such as festivals, stadia, arenas, theme parks, universities and city-wide events.

It provides the ability to combine highly targeted mobile phone notifications with real-time crowd movement visualisations and metrics.

Crucially, this can be delivered without any infrastructure – ‘sensing without sensors’. Instead, Crowd Connected’s code is simply embedded into an official venue/event/location mobile app, turning it into a sophisticated crowd monitoring and communication tool. This makes it easy to deploy on large, distributed or temporary sites.

Intended to sit alongside existing control room tools without requiring any dedicated equipment or operators, the solution is managed from a web app, so the service can be accessed from any device and in any location.

Key features include:

James Cobb, CEO of Crowd Connected, said: “We engaged with a wide selection of industry experts and it is clear from feedback there is a need for new tools that help address the duty of care to the public in the face of increasingly diverse risks.

“Everyone in the crowd has a mobile phone which provides the basis for our approach, enabling crowds to be monitored over a wide area without additional infrastructure. We’ve extended our existing technology platform – proven at scale at over 50 events in 2017 – allowing operators of crowded places to improve both customer experience and crowd safety, without relying solely on crowd management personnel.”

Crowd Connected will be exhibiting in the Innovation Zone (L10), the showcase for emerging innovation at the People Movement and Management Show (London Olympia, 6-7 March).
